Last week, under the organization of MEDEX ITALY | International Medical Exchange Center, Prof. Giuliante, Director of Hepatobiliary Surgery at Policlinico Gemelli, delivered a series of keynote lectures in China at the West China Hospital in Chengdu. This was part of the “Liver Minimally Invasive Technology International Training Course & 2024 China HPB Innovation Conference,” organized by Professor Wu Hong, Deputy General Director of the hospital, which is considered one of the best in the country. The hospital employs 12,000 staff members and has 4,300 beds.
During the course, Prof. Giuliante, along with Prof. Ardito, also an expert from Policlinico Gemelli, performed a complex laparoscopic surgery for hepatocellular carcinoma in a cirrhotic liver. The procedure was streamed live to an audience of over 26,000 viewers.
The collaboration between the two institutions represented an extremely important opportunity for dialogue and exchange in the field of hepatobiliary surgery.
